Stranger Things follows groups and individuals in Dawkins, a small American town, after local boy Will Beyers goes missing, and tells the story of their efforts to uncover the mysteries behind Will's disappearance and ultimately bring Will home.

Stranger Things was created as an homage to the Schlocky Science Fiction monster mystery movies of the 80s. This is evident through its setting, as well as costume and set design. The atmosphere this creates is very reminiscent of 80s pop-culture and the Sci-Fi horror genre.

The performances given by the cast are spot on. They are all engaging and are not too over the top in their portrayal. A special mention must be given to the child actors cast in this series, their characters have the largest role and never did I feel sick of their characters or felt unengaged by them.

Stranger Things is well written and generally well paced. Although there are slow moments in the series it does not detract from the overall story. All of the characters go through satisfying arcs and none seem unnecessary to the plot. The series builds tension all the way to the climax and does not give anything away until it has to.

Overall, Stranger Things is a charming gripping and well made series that pays homage to the Schlock of 80s Sci-Fi without becoming cheesy. Definitely give it a watch.
