Hey guys welcome back to your weekly dose of, Blockbuster and Schlock-Busters. Today I will be talking about the hit HBO late-night talk show ‘LastWeekTonight’

It is a half-hour-long show hosted by a British comedian John Oliver. The show shares a bit similarities with Oliver’s last The Daily Show.


The show mainly talks about news, politics and current events, on a weekly basis. Currently its airing its fourth season which was further renewed for 3 more seasons keeping it till 2020.




Enough with the introduction, on paper the show seems a bit boring but it’s the opposite. It’s hard to capture the image of the show if you haven’t watched it. John being a comedian has a fantastic sense of humour and a superb communicator. He takes serious matters and deals with it in a very funny way and crashing down government websites on a weekly basis.




His most famous segment ‘Donald Trump” which was aired on Feb 28th, 2016.The 22-minute segment where he discusses Trump’s presidential campaign and his business career. Where he elaborates, Trump’s failed business venture and shifty campaign.

Xtro (1982)

Hello everyone! Hope you have enjoyed out content this week. Today’s movie is Xtro (1982) written and directed by Harry Bromley Davenport. A horror/science fiction schlock film.   (Image sourced from IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086610/mediaindex?ref_=tt_pv_mi_sm) It follows a young boy, Tommy, who's father, Sam, was abducted by aliens but returns three years later. Sam isn't the same and starts to have a disturbing negative affect on Tommy. Xtro is one of my favourites of Schlock cinema, mainly because it doesn't try to pretend it is a big budget blockbuster. The film knows it is a B-Grade movie and capitalises on its standing. The film's low budget is obvious with poor acting and below average special effects, except for the alien which looked surprisingly good.
