Shin Godzilla (2016)

Image
Hello everyone, its Cameron. Welcome to the Friday installment of Blockbusters and Schlock-busters. Today's movie is the most recent film in the long standing Godzilla franchise from Toho Studios: Shin Godzilla (otherwise known as Godzilla: Resurgence) directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi. (Image sourced from IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4262980/) The film follows Hiroki Hasegawa, an up-and-coming Japanese politician who must find a way to deal with Godzilla amidst growing panic and government red tape. Shin Godzilla adds a twist to the traditional Godzilla story that propels the story forward and adds an interesting layer of tension. The movie takes a more serious tone with the movie and uses Godzilla as a political metaphor rather than simply a symbol of raw destruction and action, as was intended in the original 1954 Shin Godzilla is a a poignant political piece with a grim reminder of the dangers of nuclear weapons and contains many of the sam

Baywatch (2017)

Hey guys, We're back with another comic update for this week! So I'm sure most people would have watched Baywatch since it hit the theatres on 25th May (in Australia, June 1st.). The movie gives off a very goofy vibe since one of the main protagonists of the movie, Zac Effron has displayed this characteristic.                                                              Image sourced from IMDB The Emerald Bay, lead by Lieutenant Mitch ( aka The Rock/Dwayne Johnson) has a team of perfectly skilled lifeguards handling the entire beach and making sure everyone is safe. Recently, a new requirement was put up by the team for new recruits. They are looking for people who have the ability to develop skills like theirs and become a proud team member. Unfortunately, they land up with two men who are deprived of such skills and seem to be very keen on joining their elite force. An egoistic Olympic swimmer who eventually does prove his worth to join their force when a new drug is i

Interstellar(2014)

Hello everyone! Welcome to the blockbusters and schlock-busters: the best and worst of film and television. Today, I would like to introduce one of the Christopher Nolan’s most mind bending sci-fi endeavours – Interstellar.  (Source: https://www.counter-currents.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/interstellar-movie.jpg) Nolan has unusual but wonderful thinking in his film. In this film , there are no bizarre alien creatures, defected evil AI, blow out air combat.  There is only the most real, difficult and realistic challenge. The human race could easily reach this kind of problem in the future. This film's kernel is about family drama, which is about the love and commitment between father and daughter. This film combines the warmest human emotion and the heart of the waiting for the natural together. Therefore, space immigration naturally steps into the grand, which is full of solemn and stirring epic of humanity form the movie. (Source: http://www.interstellarmovie.net

Happy Friday everyone its Cameron. Welcome to another installment of Blockbusters and Schlock-Busters! I hope you all have enjoyed the reviews this week and we look forward to bringing you more in the weeks ahead. Popular Culture is a very broad genre. It encompasses from a variety of Sub-Genres; like Dramas or Superhero Movies, that have become popularised through either critical acclaim of movies so good they are great, or cult followings of movies that are so bad they are good. One of these movies is the 2003 Schlocky Romantic Drama and Dark Comedy: The Room starring, produced and directed by Tommy Wiseau . It had a poor performance at the Box Office, it made a gross total of $1,800 (as of July 2003), nowhere near its production budget of $6,000,000. (Stats from IMDb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368226/) However it developed cult following after audiences realised the (unintentional) comedic value of the film. Top Gear Uk (2001-Present)

When we think of the genre ‘Documentary’ we presume that it’s going to be old and boring.  I’ll be talking about the T.V series Top Gear.  The program originally began life in 1977, as a half hour motoring program on the BBC in the United Kingdom. The original format ran for twenty-four years.  Then came the rise of Top gear in 2001. The show was revamped, where three middle-aged blokes reviewed cars, played hilarious jokes on each other and go nuts with their high-end supercars around a converted runway racetrack, pouring smoke all over the track.  Every year the boys broadcast a special episode where they go on a trip somewhere around the globe and wreak havoc on each other’s life but still maintaining to keep it factual, after all it’s a documentary.  The show has generated millions of pounds for the BBC with a steady audience of 300 million viewers per week and has won many notable awards.  So, what’s holding you back from binge-watch the show?  One pro-tip: St

Inception(2010)

Image
(Source:  https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/18/Inception_OST.jpg) Today, I would like to recommend a science fiction film- Inception .  Inception is a 2010  science fiction film, which is directed by  Christopher Nolan, who  had the guidance of "memento" and "Batman" valuable experience. Therefore, Nolan build his creative "five dream maze" , which does not divorced from reality in terms of real buildings, a key figure and all the actual scene. All of these make no traces of visual interface between dream and reality. Moreover, Fans can not only face to face with the characters of the subconscious, but also arouses a certain interactive role. The film's story is simple: an agent because of being mistaken for killed his own wife, and wanted to be able to go home, he used his "dream" skills tycoon service for a company, and transform the consciousness of the successor to another company. Such a simple st
